Mrs. Heuerman, Mrs. D. Nguyen, and Mrs. Sandlin are the 2nd grade teachers.



Mrs. Heuerman

Loan Heuerman has taught in the Franklin-McKinley School District for 10 years.  When she isn’t surrounded by students, she spends time gardening and trying hard not to be a bad poker player! She is currently working on her Masters Degree in Educational Technology.

Mrs. D. Nguyen

Demi Nguyen has taught in the Franklin-McKinley School District for 18 years.  She is trilingual in Vietnamese, Chinese and English.  During her extra time, she likes to travel, go camping, and enjoys cooking.


B.A. in Child Development at San Jose State University

M.A. in Science and Technology from San Jose State University


Mrs. Sandlin

Mrs. Wendy Sandlin is beginning her 14th year  of teaching and received her Bachelor’s Degree at Menlo College and Teaching Credential at Cal State University of Los Angeles. She loves spending time with her family and two dogs, Xena and Teenie.



About This Grade

Second grade focuses on incorporating multiple subjects in Project Based Learning throughout the year. Our goal is to incorporate more technology in the classroom. At the end of the year, second graders will be able to read and understand grade-level appropriate material and write coherent sentences and paragraphs.

Thursdays Dismissal: 1:00PM
Schedule 3 Days Dismissal: 12 PM
Lunch:  10:40AM-11:20AM


Homework Policy
Reading: 30 minutes daily
Math: one daily page
Writing: Journal writing

Materials that you will need :
binder (2 inch)
5 folders with pockets (yellow, red, green, blue, purple)
3 spiral bound notebooks
1 composition book (100 pages, not spiral bound)
5 pencils
pencil box or pencil pouch
