Mrs. Heuerman, Mrs. Divine and Ms. Wilkins are our 6th grade teachers.

Mrs. Divine
Mrs. Divine began her teaching career in 2019 after spending 10 years in the district working with students with autism and subbing in many different schools. Mrs. Divine has a Bachelors in Psychology as well as her teaching credential which she received from San Jose State University in 2019. She comes to us from Dahl elementary where she taught her first 3 years. In her free time she directs a puppet team and would love to ride horses more often than she does.

Mrs. Heuerman
Mrs. Heuerman has taught for over 15 years in second and sixth grade at Shirakawa School.  Mrs. Heuerman has a Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Art and a Masters in Educational Technology.  Mrs. Heuerman enjoys spending time with her family and friends on her free time.

Ms. Wilkins
Ms Wilkins received her Bachelor's degree from UC Riverside, and her credential and Master's from SJSU. This is her second year at Shirakawa teaching 6th grade. She loves history, crafts, Star Wars, reading, and animals. She has 2 dogs, 3 cats, and a bunch of fish. She has 5 children, 2 boys and 3 girls, and is a grandma to 3. One last thing, she plays Pokemon Go!

About this Grade Level

Language Arts: Collections is our new curriculum adoption. It is an online program where students are challenged to think deeply, studying texts that are complex but accessible.

Math: We use CPM (College Preparatory Math) for our math curriculum. It is a textbook based program, however, there is online homework support that parents can access at home.

Science: In 6th grade we teach students about Earth Science; Ecosystems, Plants, Water cycle, etc.

Social Studies: We use McGraw-Hill Ancient Civilizations. We start with early man and end the year with Romans.
